The APCC Phase II Program provides a number of opportunities for divisions that have already participating in Phase I of the program (existing Divisions). All existing divisions will be invited to undertake a number of activities, principally between January and June 2008. In addition to these activities, some divisions will be in a position to assist with the broader roll out of the APCC program in a number of ways. IFA is currently contacting all divisions to discuss these arrangements.
All existing divisions will be invited to continue with the APCC program in the following ways:
Existing Divisions will have the opportunity to hold a local workshop with currently participating practices and other interested practices to up-date them on any changes to the program topics. All expert reference panels will be reviewing topic content to ensure that material is up to date and relevant.
The APCC program proposes to automate data extraction and the subsequent loading of data to the on line reporting web site will reduce practice workload and disruption. Practices who are not participating in the APCC program can also submit monthly measures As many divisions currently participating within the NPCC program have applied the quality improvement principles to other topic areas, the APCC program will widen data collection to include work in other health related areas, so that all divisions can extend work into these fields if they so choose. Divisions can continue to receive monthly reporting graphs and feedback to assist with local quality improvement initiatives as well as ability to access information relating to work in other health topics.
The APCC will also offer existing divisional staff development opportunities for those directly supporting practices. Training and development is expected to allow staff working on areas broader than APCC program, to apply general learning's to other fields. Further, as broader data collection is proposed, staff in other divisional sectors can commence using measurement for improvement.
The APCC Program will be making recommendations to the Commonwealth on the introduction of new topics. Subject to funding, new topics would be available which we expect will be introduced through national waves.
